Complete cultivation guide - Cannabis / Marijuana seeds

Have you ever wondered which seeds to use when growing?

Obtaining marijuana seeds for cultivation is not an easy task as is the case with other plants. Quality marijuana seeds, and especially feminized seeds, are not cheap compared to other seeds, and we consider it one of the more expensive expenses for growing.

What to think about when buying seeds?

Before buying, you need to think about which type of cannabis (strain) suits you. If you live in countries where the status of cannabis is completely legal, then it includes a choice between Indica that relaxes and helps with sleep problems, Sativa that stimulates the brain (euphoria, happiness) or hybrids that are between Sativa and Indica. Think carefully about what effects you want when deciding to buy.

Also, you need to consider the type of seed. There are three types of seeds: ordinary, feminized seeds and auto-flowering seeds. This is also a very important decision that you have to make as it affects the whole growth and development of the plant.

Where to buy seeds?

Today, you can get seeds in several online stores and in physical stores in Slovenia, Germany and other western countries. It is important to pay attention to the laws to avoid prosecution.

What is the difference between ordinary, feminized and auto-flowering seeds?

We cannot see a superficial difference between these three types of seeds, but all types carry different genes for further development.

Regular seeds:

The traditional seed is the one you can find in marijuana flowers (in "heads"). In nature, this seed is the fruit of pollination of a female plant by a male. It is estimated that 66% of traditional seeds will grow into a female plant, while the rest will grow into a male plant. When grown from traditional seeds, the sex is not seen until the preflowering phase or the flowering phase.

Feminized seed:

Feminized seed is a specially modified seed to grow into a female plant. A quality feminized seed has a 95% probability of growing into a female plant. Also, this type of seed grows faster than traditional and is not so sensitive to changes in the environment, thus reducing the possibility of "bisexuality" due to stress or what we do not want, and that is the seed in dried marijuana flowers ("buds"). Many methods are used in the production of this type of seed, but the most important today is the method of using a solution of silver thiosulfate, which causes a special hormonal reaction of the plant that results in a change of sex.

Auto-flowering:

Seed automation is also the result of genetic modification, but with a different goal. By crossing different species of Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa with Ruderalis, growers have been able to create a subspecies of marijuana that blooms automatically after three weeks regardless of conditions such as the amount of sunlight in outdoor cultivation or the amount of artificial light in indoor cultivation.

Due to the genetics of Cannabis Ruderalis, this species grows to a very small height on average up to 1 meter, unlike others from the family Cannabis Sativa L.

What pays off the most?

When growing, the most important thing is to make sure that your seeds will grow into a female plant. Traditional or ordinary seeds that we often find in "home-grown" marijuana are free and relatively easy to access, but the main drawback is that it does not guarantee a female plant and therefore requires a lot of attention to detect sex in time and maintain excellent conditions so the plant does not turn into a "bisexual". We advise you to always buy feminized or auto-flowering seeds from official producers online.

If you have a limited area where you can grow, you want fast growing and you do not want to bother with light cycles, we recommend auto-flowering seeds that will lead you to the results most easily, and are especially good for beginners.

For those more advanced who plan to clone their plants, we recommend using feminized seeds or taking clones from a plant that you are sure is female.
